biographical: At Camlann, Mordred falls, followed shortly by Arthur. But there are only seven stories in the world—and really, there aren’t actually so many souls in the world as well. Shortly after Arthur’s death, his soul was born again; and some twenty years after that, he again sired a boy with the soul of Mordred.

So it’s been through the ages. They have different names, from time to time. Slowly, their faces have changed, their relationships have shifted this way and that. Others have come and gone—Emrys, Morgan, Guinevere, Lancelot, all the rest—but the father and son are perpetually joined by fate. Sometimes Arthur is Mordred’s father, sometimes his uncle, sometimes even a brother or simply a contemporary. Sometimes they become cognizant of it. Sometimes they try to stop the cycle.

The cycle never ends. Their lives are always mutually cut short by one another’s hands.

In his most recent incarnation, Mordred is known as Merdraut Perkins, child of single mother Morgause Perkins. A bit of shady business left his mother in a coma when he was still only fourteen years of age, and forced his very grudging Uncle Artie to take him in, raise him proper--and name the boy his official heir and adoptive son when Morgause passed away less than a year later. Being pulled out of the home he knew to be raised in London this way--by an uncle who clearly hated him and was taking him in only for the sake of appearances--made Merdraut a rather withdrawn boy who lashed out at random in fits of painful violence.

Now, age eighteen and incredibly introverted, he is concentrating in Classics and Ancient History at the University of Bristol. His fate is thus far unknown to him, his compulsion toward other reincarnated souls apparently just a muted desire to actually make friends.
